Theme song
(He's a phantom, Danny Phantom!)
Young Danny Fenton, he was just fourteen,
When his parents built a very strange machine.
It was designed to view a world unseen!
(He's gonna catch 'em all, 'cause he's Danny Phantom!)
When it didn't quite work, his folks, they just quit,
Then Danny took a look inside of it.
There was a great big flash, everything just changed.
His molecules got all rearranged!
(Phantom, Phantom!)
When he first woke up, he realized,
He had snow white hair and glowing green eyes.
He could walk through walls, disappear and fly!
He was much more unique than the other guys.
It was then that he knew what he had to do:
He had to stop all the ghosts that were coming through.
He's here to fight for me and you!
He's gonna catch 'em all, 'cause he's Danny Phantom!
Gotta catch 'em all, 'cause he's Danny Phantom!
Gonna catch 'em all, 'cause he's ...
(Danny Phantom!)
In Doctor's Disorders and all following episodes, the theme song video was changed by the addition of Danny's special "DP" logo, even though technically he didn't have it when he first gained his ghost powers. This is because of the episode Memory Blank; after Sam wished she never had met Danny (resulting in him losing his ghost powers), she added the "DP" when helping Danny regain his powers by entering his parents' ghost portal. [1]
- Note: Before Mr.Hartman himself announced that the "Young" in the theme song was indeed "Young", many fans had heard it as "Yo", considering that the song is sung in a rap music style.
Trivia
- Butch Hartman (who also created The Fairly OddParents), created the show. As a result, the style of animation, some of the minor characters, and the sound effects are very similar, differences like the plot and story are continuous. Unlike The Fairly OddParents, all the characters have five digits per hand instead of four. They also have necks. This is on account of the designs being done by veteran character designer Stephen Silver (with Butch adding some touches of his own).
- This show has more superhero references than any other Nicktoon. For one thing, Danny's costume is nearly identical to the version the Fantastic Four used for years after an adventure in the Negative Zone in the early 1980s. In both cases the black-and-white costumes were created by weird energies affecting their previous clothing, causing a "negative image" effect. Starting with the Season 2 opener, "Memory Blank," the "DP" logo was added to make Danny's costume more distinguished.
- There are references made in the show to the setting of the show being somewhere in or around the Chicago metropolitan area. The Box Ghost mentions Arlington Heights, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Other cities in the area that are mentioned are Kenosha, Madison, and Green Bay in Wisconsin. Another clue to the Chicago area is a Northwestern University test being taken during one episode. In the episode "Bitter Reunions", Jazz Fenton is heard saying "In Wisconsin?" and the characters spend three nights sleeping in an R.V. while traveling there.
